Welcome to Royal Park Golf Course. We have a range of equipment available for hire, including golf carts and golf clubs. So whether you want to cruise around our course in one of our carts or don’t have your own set of clubs – we’ve got you covered.
To hire our equipment, please read through the information below and complete the equipment hire form. You can complete the form before you head to the course or in our shop when you arrive.
Golf cart hire induction information
Before you operate one of our golf carts, we’d like to share a few safety rules to follow. Please read the induction information below, then complete our equipment hire form acknowledging that:
- you have read and understood the rules and procedures;
- you will abide by these rules and procedures while on our course.

- All golf carts should be operated at a moderate speed, making sure to reduce your speed to compensate for inclines, pedestrians, and weather conditions.
- If the grass is wet, slow down and drive with extra caution.
- All of our golf carts have been fitted with Visage, an in-cart GPS system with built in speed controls and notices to ensure safe operation.
- Pedestrians always have the right-of-way on shared paths. Cyclists and all other users in and round the park, Poplar Road and the Capital City Trail should be considered when using a golf cart at Royal Park Golf Course.
- When approaching Poplar road, be sure to follow all safety signage and proceed with caution. The images below provide details on how to safely navigate this area of the course.
- When needing to back up, check your surroundings to ensure they are clear of people or obstructions. Check to see that the cart of set to go backward, and if needed make adjustments as necessary. Our carts will also sound a loud reverse alert when set in this position.
- Approach all turns with caution and reduced speed. Neve make a sharp turn, even on a straight away. Rounding curves at excessive speeds can result in someone being thrown from the cart.
- Always drive straight up and down a hill. Driving up or down a hill at an angle can cause the cart to tip over.
- All golf carts should only drive on designated paths and stay away from vegetation areas, greens, tees and bunkers.
- Your carts GPS will help you stay on an appropriate route. If the path is congested, do not take any alternate routes, such as going under ropes or over difficult terrain.
- Park golf carts out of the way of pedestrians and other carts. Do not park the cart on an incline or uneven surfaces.
- Our golf carts have a parking brake located on the top left of the brake pedal. Ensure this is activated upon exiting the golf cart.
- No golf cart is to be operated with more passengers than seating allows.
- Be sure properly load and store your equipment.
- Do not ride on the back of the cart, standup in a moving cart or overload your cart with equipment.
- Only drive the golf cart once all passengers are seated.
- All occupants in the golf cart shall keep hands, arms, legs and feet within the confines of the cart at all times when the cart is in motion.
- Only authorised drivers who have completed this Golf Cart Safety Acknowledgement may drive a golf cart and carts cannot be operated by an intoxicated person.
- As each cart is assigned to a specific person, please ensure you select the correct cart.
- All use and liability of cart operation is on the hirer who has signed and acknowledged the cart hire form prior to use.
- Any damage to golf carts is the responsibility of the hirer and rates for replacement are displayed on your windscreen.
- Any mechanical issues with golf carts should be reported to our staff as soon as possible.
- Upon conclusion of your game, all carts must be returned to the staging area. Do not leave carts on the course or in the parking lot.
- In the event of an emergency, call '000' in the first instance, not the Golf Shop
Safe Operation on Poplar Road
All of our golf carts have been fitted with Visage, an in-cart GPS system with built in speed controls.
When approaching Capital City Trail, proceed with caution and look out for cyclists and pedestrians.
When approaching Poplar Road, stay left of the bollards and proceed with caution.
Stop completely and check for traffic. Proceed onto the road when safe and stay left when on the road.
Follow posted signs to the 2nd hole.
Only proceed onto the road when safe to do so. Be sure to stay left when on the road.
Approach the Royal Park Station, taking caution around traffic and crossing the tracks.
After crossing the railway tracks, approach the right-hand turn lane to the shared path.
Continue to following shared paths signs where present.
Approach the tram tracks with caution, stop, look left and right. Cross only when safe to do so.
On road signage is in place to warn drivers to take caution of carts entering and exiting.
Following the signs, turn left onto the shared path. Taking caution when approaching the bollards.
Watch for cyclists and pedestrians on the Capital City Trail. Turn right and proceed to the 9th tee when safe.
Upon returning to the Shop, please proceed with caution and watch for golfers around the building and 1st tee.
